BRASSBALL
LEAGUE |
This brings us to the deciding game. In the bottom of the 1st, Ocala loaded the bases with their first 3 hitters, then Todd Helton connected for this 3rd HR of the series. This held up until the 4th when Fernando Tatis hit his own grand slam to knot the game at 4. Fordyce connected for a 2-run shot in the top of the 6th to give the Mets a 6-4 lead. Helton and Sosa connected for back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead in half. Sosa, who had been in major funk, entering this game, smacked the tieing homerun in the bottom of the 8th. Glen Allen's first two hitters reached base in the top of the 9th off Percival. Troy was able to get a double play and flyout to end the inning however. With 2 outs in the bottom of 9th Jeter singled and stole second, but Alfonzo couldn't drive him home. Matt Lawton led off the Mets 10th with a walk. After a hit and run groundout, Percival struck out Colbrunn and Klesko to end the 10th. The game ended in the 10th like the 1991 World Series, but not on a sacrifice fly. Helton who had opened the scoring with a grand slam, hit his 4th homerun of the series to give the win and series to Ocala.
