Hampton vs Brown

Hampton gets the Mudcats off on the right foot by pitching 6 strong innings vs the Maulers.
Hampton only allowed 2 runs to score and better yet,  no dingers.  Kevin Brown, on the other hand, was not so fortunate as he allowed 4 homers.
Jason Giambi was 2 for 4 with 2 of the homers.  Feisty Fernando Vina was 3 for 5 with a homer of his own.

Jason Giambi launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Minnesota Mudcats
outscored the Cook County Maulers 6 to 2.

The Cook County fans didn't appreciate the big day Giambi had.  He lifted one
out of the park for a two run home run in the 1st inning and smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 2nd of the season) in the 6th inning.  Minnesota
rapped out 8 hits for the night.  

The winning pitcher was Mike Hampton(2-1) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings.
Kevin Brown(2-1) took the loss.  He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 8
innings of work.
