BRASSBALL LEAGUE |
Game 6
Loaiza vs Martinez
Mudcats
broke out early with a 3 run homer from A-Rod right away in the first. In the bottom
of the second though the Maulers got 3 for themselves to tie it up at 3. A 2 run
homer by Andruw Jones in the 5 th put the Mudcats back up 5-3 on Senor Pedro. The
Maulers responded though as they chased Loaiza from the game in the bottom of the 5th.
4 runs came across, capped by Vlad Guerrero's 2 run single. With the Maulers
up 7-5 in the seventh Vlad rocked a solo homer to push the lead to 8-5. A-Rod
responded with another homer in the top of the eighth, this time a solo shot of his own,
to get back within 2 runs. Maulers go quietly in the eighth and head to the ninth.
With one out and 2 on and Mariano Rivera on pitching Andruw Jones rocketed a 3-run
homer that made Mudcat fans back home delirious! Up 9-8, Lentz brought on Matt
Morris to close this mother out. It was to be. Vlad's second tater of the game
with one out in the ninth tied the game back up at 9. To make matters worse the
Maulers succeeded in driving Lentz cuckoo by loading the bases with one out after the
homer! But Morris ratcheted it up and got Brady Anderson and Julio Lugo to
whiff to force extra innings. Both squads went quietly in the tenth. In the
top of the 11th the Mudcats make their move. using 4 walks they push across 2 runs
to back up 11-9. Headed to the bottom of the inning Lentz stuck with Morris to try
and do what he failed in the ninth to do. Scheduled were this imposing trio:
Vlad, Piazza and Griffey. And 1-2-3 they went, baby!!!!! The Mudcats
cap an incredible comeback and best one of the finest teams in BRASSball history!
Work is going to be
easy tonight!
Congrats to Kevin on
a heckuva season and making this as difficult and nerve-racking as possible.
