The Plaza Lions defeated the Minnesota Mudcats by a score of 5 to 2 at Jacobs
Field.

Plaza wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning as they scored 2
runs on 1 base hits.  The big moment was provided by Jeff Kent who made the
crowd happy when he cracked a two-run shot (his 2nd of the season).  After
the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.  

The victory went to Woody Williams(1-0) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Armando Benitez was credited with his 1st save.  Esteban Loaiza(0-1)
was the loser.  Plaza scored big getting 5 runs off him in 4 innings.
