Curt Schilling struck out 10 batters as the Santa Barbara Outlaws defeated the
New Hampshire Derry Heifers 8 to 4 at Dodger Stadium.

Schilling(1-0) had a solid outing for Santa Barbara.  He went 9 innings
allowing 11 hits and 4 walks and was touched for 2 homeruns.  Santa Barbara
totaled 12 on the night.  

John Thomson(1-1) took the loss.  Santa Barbara scored big getting 6 runs off
him in 2 and 1/3 innings.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of
Schilling - except New Hampshire.  Sal Cribari lamented, 'He just was 'on'
tonight.  He was keeping our guys off balance all game.  A fine game by a
good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans -
unfortunately we were the visitors!'
