Carl Pavano went 8 strong innings at Duff Stadium as the Springfield Isotopes
beat the Ocala Ocelots in 11 innings by the count of 1 to 0.

The run-column was full of goose eggs at the end of nine full innings.
Springfield won the hard fought contest in the 11th inning.  Jerry Hairston
Jr delivered a one-base hit.  Lew Ford stepped into the batter's box and he
laced a base-hit.  Carlos Guillen dug into the batters box next, but he
struck out.  Jeff Bagwell stepped in and he lined a one-base hit making
Springfield the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.  Ocala
was out-hit by Springfield, 9 hits to 5.  

B.J. Ryan(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 innings. Roy Oswalt(0-1)
absorbed the loss.  He pitched 10 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 9 hits and
no walks.
