Hatteberg had a great day at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every move. He delivered a solo blast in the 1st inning, smashed a two-run homer (his 2nd of the season) in the 4th inning, slapped a base-hit bringing in two baserunners in the 5th inning and laced a single in the 7th inning. New Hampshire finished with 14 hits in the victory. The win went to Escobar(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Jon Garland(0-1) ended up with the loss. He gave up 7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings and saw his ERA jump from 1.42 to 7.45. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Escobar offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy this afternoon - of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
